MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: RESEARCH: Theoretical research responsibilities include the development of methodology relevant to genetic evaluation of livestock and the incorporation of genomic information into animal breeding stock selections. Applied research responsibilities include the implementation of livestock genetic evaluation programs. The ideal candidate should have a programming experience preferably in R, SAS and/or Fortran 90/95. TEACHING: Contribution to undergraduate course in animal breeding/genetics and a graduate level quantitative/molecular genetics course. QUALIFICATIONS: Postgraduate degree in Animal Breeding and Genetics. An understanding of theoretical and computational methodology related to the analysis of quantitative and molecular livestock data for the purposes of genetic evaluation. The ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with colleagues in research, teaching and extension is essential. POSITION AVAILABLE: Starting February 1, 2010.
