(http://www.ri.bbsrc.ac.uk/cgi-bin/anubis) or for chickens (http://www.ri.bbsrc.ac.uk/cgi-bin/anubis?singlespecies=chicken) The separate chicken version is required as the correspondence between linkage groups and chromosomes is still uncertain. You can, of course access the relevant map manager automatically from the PiGBASE or ChickBASE menu pages. In addition to the changes and improvements that you will notice as a user, there are further enhancements to the performance of the software that are hidden from the user. Some of the differences and improvements that you should notice are: - Neater cytogenetic displays - Improved menu screen, making it easier to select parameters for multiple map displays - New time saving options; for instance, to compare all the the different maps of a chromosome, click on "comparison" in the menu screen, and you will be presented with all the maps layed side to side with common loci highlighted. As the map manager directly interogates the underlying genome databases you are presented with a contemporary view of the databases. Full online documentation is provided describing all the functions: http://www.ri.bbsrc.ac.uk/anubis/userdocs.html The improved Anubis 2.0 map manager has been implemented both on the Roslin Institute's WWW genome server and at the National Agricultural Library (NAL) that acts as a North American node for the livestock genome databases (http://tetra.gig.usda.gov:8400/cgi-bin/anubis). or for chickens (http://tetra.gig.usda.gov:8400/cgi-bin/anubis?singlespecies=chicken) The Anubis map manager was developed by Chris Mungall at the Roslin Institute with support from the UK Medical Research Council and Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council. Alan Archibald for the Roslin Institute (Edinburgh) Genome Computing Group PS: A copy of the SheepBASE database has been mounted on the Roslin WWW genome server (http://www.ri.bbsrc.ac.uk/sheepmap/). This copy is updated at regular intervals from the primary editorial copy of SheepBASE in New Zealand (http://dirk.invermay.cri.nz/).
