National Animal Genome Research - Bioinformatics Coordination Program
Linux CentOS 5, 8-Node Cluster Server

Capacity:

• This server has 8 nodes, each with Dual AMD Opteron 250 (2.2GHz) processor :
  1. One (1) head node (for distribution of parallel jobs and managing the cluster; can run some minor jobs as well);
  2. Six (6) compute nodes, each with 8 GB RAM and 320 GB disk space.
  3. One (1) large compute node with 16 GB RAM and 320 GB disk space.
  4. The cluster has a shared 1 TB storage disk raid.
• OS: CentOS (Linux) Cluster by Atipa Technologies
• This server is hosted in the Durham Computation Hosting Service Center at the Iowa State Univeristy. A hosting stuff is on duty to make it available 24/7.

An ad hoc list of software package installed:

• CAP3
• Exonerate
• GenScan
• miranda
• mpiBlast (ultilizing the 6 compute nodes)
